6 Sent to Area Hospitals After Cincinnatti Bus Accident
Around 8:30 Thursday morning, in the 5000 block of Winneste Avenue, in Winton Hills, a car hit a school bus in a head-on collision injuring three adults and sending three children to the hospital.
According to the District 3 Fire Chief, the accident occurred when Phillip True, 27, crossed the yellow line and struck the bus. True’s car was wedged underneath the school bus and he suffered life-threatening injuries. He was trapped in the wreckage and had to be removed by the jaws of life.
The school bus was transporting three special needs children to Roll Hill Academy, on Baltimore Ave. and North Fairmount, when they were hit. A spokeswoman for Cincinnati public schools said that all three children were taken to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as a precaution.
The Cincinnati accident left the bus driver and another adult passenger with chest and head injuries. They were transported to the University Hospital. Both injured victims were treated and released.
Phillip True was seriously injured in the collision. After the emergency crew cut the roof off of his car and safely removed him, he was transported to University Hospital. His injuries were life-threatening and he is listed in critical condition, according to Cincinnati Police Lt. Maurice Robinson.
